Breaking – Hyatt Reportedly Extending Legacy Guest of Honor Benefit for Another Year
This just in – we are hearing rumblings that Hyatt has reportedly extended the “legacy” Guest of Honor benefits for another year. This means that Globalist members can continue to confer their benefits like upgrades, breakfast, and late check-out as a gift when redeeming points for someone else to stay at a Hyatt property on a free night until February 28, 2026, for bookings through February 28, 2027.
Previously, this benefit allowed unlimited usage as long as the member redeemed their own World of Hyatt points on behalf of the guest. However, people were gaming the system by transferring points to friends with Globalist status, who would then book a Guest of Honor stay for them.
In 2024, Hyatt moved to a certificate-based system, where Globalists receive a limited number of Guest of Honor certificates per year to gift or use as they see fit. For existing Globalists as of December 31, 2023, once all certificates had been used, they could “fall back” on the “legacy” Guest of Honor benefit until today (2/28/25).
Now, reports suggest that this “legacy” fallback benefit has been extended another year, through February 28, 2026, for stays through the end of February 2027. This should be good news for those panic-planning future reservations today. While still unconfirmed, people are hearing this through their assigned My Hyatt Concierges. Stay tuned for additional information as this is a developing story.
